The incredible display of Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, on Tuesday night was caused by a severe geomagnetic — or “solar” — storm, which hit the Earth, producing gorgeous auroras and sparking concerns about power disruptions. WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF: Wisconsin 4, UND 1, Part 2, March 7, 2015

The UND women’s hockey team’s season ended Saturday with a heartbreaking 4-1 loss to Wisconsin in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Faceoff seminfinals in Ralph Engelstad Arena. UND, which ended its season with a 22-12-3 record, was mathematically eliminated from an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers, 28-6-4, scored a 4-0 win over Bemidji State (21-17-10) in today’s championship game.

Bemidji State’s women’s hockey team (21-16-10) upset No. 1-ranked University of Minnesota (31-3-4) 1-0 in the semifinals of the WCHA Final Faceoff on Saturday in Ralph Engelstad Arena.  The Beavers meet the University of Wisconsin (27-6-4) in the championship game today. The Badgers defeated the University of North Dakota (22-12-3) to advance to the title game.
