RUSS HONS: Photo Gallery — University of North Dakota Vs. Western Michigan University

The University of North Dakota men’s hockey team skated to a 5-3 National Collegiate Hockey Conference win over the Western Michigan University on Friday night in Ralph Engelstad Arena as it closed in on its sixth Penrose Cup. The No. 3 Fighting Hawks (23-8-2 overall, 14-6-1 NCHC) can clinch the title with a win tonight against the Huskies (18-12-1 overall, 9-12-0 NCHC) or a  St. Cloud State loss tonight to the University of Denver. Owen McLaughlin, Jackson Kunz, Louis Jamernik V, Carson Albrecht and Cameron Berg (empty net) scored goals for UND, while Jackson Blake picked up two assists to move within two points of breaking the NCHC scoring record with 34 points in just 21 league games. Samuel Sjolund, Daniel Hilsendager and Matteo Costantini scored goals for WMU. UND goalie Ludvig Persson had 34 saves and WMU’s Cameron Rowe had 12 saves.
