Redshirt freshman Geno Crandall made University of North Dakota men’s basketball fans forget about this past weekend’s drubbing at the hands of Northern Iowa, scoring 11 of his team-high 17 points in the second half of a 78-58 win over Waldorf College of Iowa on Tuesday night in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The victory snapped a three-game Fighting Hawk losing streak and put UND at 3-4 on the season. Junior Quinton Hooker and freshman Conner Avants chipped in 14 and 10 points respectively for UND. Waldorf was paced by Tyler Parrish, who scored 17 points. UND played without 7-foot center Carson Shanks, who sat out his second straight game with a back injury. Waldorf, ranked No. 15 in the latest NAIA national poll, played without its leading scorer, Erik Brewer, who averages 19 points per game. UND returns to action on the road Saturday at Bradley. Tip-off against the Missouri Valley Conference member is set for 7 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN3. Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.

This is embarassing for UND. Why do they have an NAIA team – enrollment 643 – on their schedule?
