RUSS HONS: Photo Gallery — University of North Dakota Vs. University Of Denver

The No. 5-ranked University of North Dakota men’s hockey team handed No. 4 University of Denver a 4-2 defeat in National Collegiate Hockey Conference play Saturday night in Ralph Engelstad Arena and in doing so completed a weekend sweep. UND won Friday night’s contest 5-2. The win for the Fighting Hawks (18-6-2 overall, 9-4-1 NCHC) solidified their first-place standing in the NCHC. The Pioneers dropped to 17-7-2 overall and 8-5-1 in NCHC play. North Dakota trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before scoring three straight goals to seal the win. Cameron Berg, Jackson Kunz, Owen McLaughlin and Riese Gaber scored goals for the Fighting Hawks, while Jared Wright and Sam Harris scored for the Pioneers. UND goaltender Ludvig Persson had 22 saves and DU’s Matt Davis had 29. The Fighting Hawks return to play next weekend when they travel to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami University.
