RUSS HONS: Photo Gallery — Ninth Annual Northern Valley Police Week Memorial Service

Local and state law enforcement officers from North Dakota and Minnesota agencies, federal law enforcement, the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police participated in the Ninth Annual Northern Valley Police Week Memorial Service on Tuesday on the front lawn of the Grand Forks County Courthouse. The ceremony included presentation of the colors, reading of roll call for fallen officers, a 21-gun salute, flag folding and a helicopter flyover. The keynote speaker was retired Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost. President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that falls as Police Week.
