Western Illinois University defeated the University of North Dakota women’s softball team 10-1 and 3-2 on Saturday in the Alerus Center in Grand Forks to complete a three-game sweep of the Fighting Hawks in Summit League play. The Leathernecks (13-19 overall, 5-6 Summit) won the series opener 8-0 on Friday. In that game, Angel Love had UND’s only hit. On Saturday, Love had two hits and drove in the Fighting Hawks’ only run in the opener. In Game 2, Kaylee Schneider led UND (19-30 overall, 4-8 Summit) with two hits, while Love and Ashlynn Uvila each drove in a run. UND hosts South Dakota State University next weekend for three games at the Apollo Sports Complex. The Fighting Hawks sit in fifth place in the Summit League standings and hold a one-game lead over Purdue Fort Wayne. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
