The University of North Dakota men’s basketball team clinched its first regular season conference title in 22 seasons with an 82-73 victory over Portland State University on Saturday in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Just like he’s done all season, Quinton Hooker led the way for the Fighting Hawks (19-9 overall, 14-4 Big Sky), scoring 29 points against the Vikings (14-15, 7-11), who were paced by Traylin Farris with 17 points and Calaen Robinson with 15 points. UND’s Geno Crandall chipped in 21 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds in the winning cause. With the win, UND heads to Reno, Nev., as the No. 1 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. The Fighting Hawks play their first game Thursday against the winner of No. 8 Portland State and No. 9 Northern Arizona.
