The University of North Dakota women’s basketball team held its own against visiting University of Iowa from the Big Ten conference on Wednesday night in Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, rallying from nine points down at halftime to tie the game at 40-40. But the Hawkeyes (3-0) put the brakes on the Fighting Hawks’ comeback to claim a 75-60 win over its Big Sky conference foe. UND (2-3) was led by Makailah Dyer and Fallyn Freije, who each scored 14 points. Leah Szabla also chipped in 12 points for the Fighting Hawks. Iowa’s Ally Disterhoft led all scorers with 20 points. UND returns to action Nov. 22, when the Fighting Hawks meet Mayville State. Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.
