The University of North Dakota men’s basketball team’s season came to an abrupt end Wednesday night in Betty Engelstad Arena. The Fighting Hawks suffered a heartbreaking 89-86 defeat at the hands of the University of California-Irvine in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. UND freshman Geno Crandall scored a career-high 22 points in a game that featured 14 ties and 15 lead changes. Freshman Cortez Seales added 16 off the bench for the Fighting Hawks, who finished the season with a 17-16 record. Juniors Quentin Hooker and Corey Baldwin rounded out a quartet of double-figure scorers for UND with 15 and 10 points, respectively. Mike Best scored 22 points to lead the Anteaters (26-9), who will get a bye into the CIT quarterfinals. Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.
