The University of North Dakota women’s volleyball team won its home-opener against Eastern Washington University on Thursday in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The scores were 21-15, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9 in favor of the Fighting Hawks (8-5). The Eagles fell to 2-9. UND was led by Lydia Rutten, who had 18 kills. Ashley Brueggeman added 11 kills and 11 digs, becoming the 18th player in North Dakota history to reach the 1,000 kills club. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
