RON SCHALOW: Duh Don Trump (DDT) Concentrated

Just in the last seven to 10 days, a sampling of DDT:

We’re shooting tear gas canisters at kids. That’s a thing I haven’t seen since the last seriously raucous protest. I guess civilians have been dodging that poison for a long time. Maybe advanced photography makes the current scene more surreal. Something about this time seems extra evil.

Here in North Dakota, the bar for what constitutes a riot is pretty low and you could get doused with most anything. I might be having a riot right now. Who would a guy call to find out? Oley? Cowboy Luke? The Bastiat Caucus?

And I imagine the mace wafting in the air has found a few small nostrils, too. Some eyes. Rubber bullets probably hit some young flesh unless the tykes were wearing armor-plated Garanimals.

If history is any indicator, North Dakota Sen.-elect Kevin Cramer will have something stupid to say about this brutal episode of Trumpitude real soon.

“Hey Kevin, my president isn’t a fat child abuser like your bucket of leeches, so nyah.” Kevin’s neck muscles tense and his mouth seizes his body and he’ll explain how tear gas is superhumane. Well, Uncle Don said, “… the tear gas is a very minor form of the tear gas itself. It’s very safe.”

Donald Trump actually said that the tear gas, which is internationally banned from war, is safe.

Terrorizing the little ones by caging them behind chain-linked fencing evidently wasn’t enough to sate Trump’s cruel instincts. Or taking them from their parents in the first place. That’s a diabolical string of events even for a sociopath.

Seeking asylum is not illegal. Don must know this, although knowing things isn’t his thing. Existing laws can’t be changed simply because DT doesn’t like them or doesn’t understand. But nobody seems to be stopping him.

One of Donald Trump’s favorite falsehoods is his “catch-and-release” malarkey.

Horrible people are pouring into the into the country willy-nilly, you see. If a bad hombre shows up while flossing his teeth with the piano wire of a garotte, the asylum officer compliments the dude’s dedication to dental hygiene, walks him to the north door and hands him a shiny briefcase filled with $20 bills. Oh, and a ticket to Super Bowl cincuenta y cuatro in lovely AT-LAN-TA!

In fact, of those who show a “credible fear” of persecution or harm and get a court date, 89 percent of them show back up on time for the proceeding. The other 11 percent are probably wearing an ankle monitor and going loco from the itching.

Saudi Arabian princes are forgiven for murder and their country is cheered for flooding the market with oil and driving prices down. Murder? Money? Whatta you gonna do? Trump believes Saudi actions are responsible for lower gas prices so it has to be wrong, or a hundred times more complicated. The pardon of the murder is the big takeaway, though.

A Supreme Court justice scolds a sitting president. That was unusual. Maybe it shouldn’t be.

DDT took some wild shots at retired four-star Admiral Bill McRaven — only a Navy SEAL, Plus the badass who led the raid to kill Osama bin Laden. He seems like the good guy. Not to Trump, though.

“Wouldn’t it have been nice if we got Osama bin Laden a lot sooner than that. Wouldn’t it have been nice?”

I don’t think 45 has a clue on how hunting down and killing a specific imfamous terrorist works. Who does? Trump just assumes he knows things and his lips are off in a blur. But most people would know that Admiral McRaven wasn’t personally knocking on doors and sworn to kill Osama. Donald might be thinking of movie or his brain is on the fritz again.

Trump suggests we start a state-run media to combat CNN worldwide. Quick, splash some safe tear gas in my face!

DT looked over the devastation of one of California’s fires, with a mortified Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom, and pointed out how the problem could be stymied. Raking.

“I was with the President of Finland and he said we have — much different — we are a forest nation. He called it a forest nation. And they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things, and they don’t have any problem. And when it is, it’s a very small problem. So I know everybody’s looking at that to that end,” Trump said.

The President of Finland didn’t tell Trump to rake anything, as everyone knows. Because it never occured to the Finns to waste their time in such a way. It was just another moronic Trump lie.

The fourth National Climate Assessment came out Black Friday, but the news media still found it. It should be alarming, but not to this government.

Of course, we knew this bad news was coming. For decades and decades. But our least effective politicians are waiting for Bill Gates or Elon Musk to fix it. Not enough rich guys, plus Musk is going to Mars, so he’ll be busy.

Our coastal CITIES will be UNDERWATER! Very soon in human years. Lot’s of people currently living won’t be around when things really go to hell. Not me. Not Trump. But it just so happens that I have family and there will be babies born long after I’m gone, and I have pre-loved each one. No paperwork required.

And hoping the end of days are scheduled for next week isn’t going to get us out of this.

A snippet from the NCA report

“In the absence of significant global mitigation action and regional adaptation efforts, rising temperatures, sea level rise, and changes in extreme events are expected to increasingly disrupt and damage critical infrastructure and property, labor productivity, and the vitality of our communities. Regional economies and industries that depend on natural resources and favorable climate conditions, such as agriculture, tourism, and fisheries, are vulnerable to the growing impacts of climate change. Rising temperatures are projected to reduce the efficiency of power generation while increasing energy demands, resulting in higher electricity costs. The impacts of climate change beyond our borders are expected to increasingly affect our trade and economy, including import and export prices and U.S. businesses with overseas operations and supply chains. Some aspects of our economy may see slight near-term improvements in a modestly warmer world. However, the continued warming that is projected to occur without substantial and sustained reductions in global greenhouse gas emissions is expected to cause substantial net damage to the U.S. economy throughout this century, especially in the absence of increased adaptation efforts. With continued growth in emissions at historic rates, annual losses in some economic sectors are projected to reach hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of the century — more than the current gross domestic product (GDP) of many U.S. states.”

Naturally, Trump simply doesn’t believe it. It’s a hoax. This fool believes that Barack Obama is a Muslim from Kenya. That’s the level of DT’s understanding.

This is the extent of our leadership on the issue of the future of the species.

“He (Trump) can do all that if he wants. But my advice would be, while I’m a skeptic, as well, he is a product of political populism, and political populism believes that there needs [to be] some addressing of climate change.” — Sen. Kevin Cramer

Cramer tightly folded that mealy-mouthed bullshit telegram into a splendid light aircraft.

“We know that our climate is changing. Our climate always changes and we see those ebb and flows through time,” — Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa

Sen. Ernst repeats the Republican line perfectly. But this isn’t an ebb, or a flow. Maybe in the history of the Earth, but a thousand ebbs in the history of humankind.

“I think if we’re going to move away from fossil fuels, it’s got to be done through innovation. And innovation can be choked out through excessive government regulation. We can’t let that happen.” — Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah

It’s GOT to be? It will be what it be. These bad things aren’t going to stop just to satisfy an ideology. Is this not obvious?

The U.S. needs to “participate in a long-term conversation about how you get to innovation, and it’s going to need to be a conversation again that doesn’t start with alarmism.” — Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb.

Oh, we’re going to have a long conversation, are we? That’s a nice idea, miss. Will a friendly chat work, when we have a weirdo like Trump in the White House? Of course not, but good try Ben.

Scientists started working on the “greenhouse effect” and it’s relationship to carbon dioxide during the Civil War, so the talking part is over.

“The progressive view of what was once called global warming (but is now called ‘climate change’ given the globe’s stubborn refusal to warm all that much) has become more an ideology, perhaps even a theology, than a rational and scientific point of view.” — Rob Port, the most influential blogger in North Dakota, according to him.

Rob Port isn’t a leader. I just like making fun of him. He’s a bottom-feeding carp. One of the ugly ones.

Don’t any of these people have children or grandchildren?

Boiled down:

“In practice, you can’t be a modern Republican in good standing unless you deny the reality of global warming, assert that it has natural causes or insist that nothing can be done about it without destroying the economy. You also have to either accept or acquiesce in wild claims that the overwhelming evidence for climate change is a hoax, that it has been fabricated by a vast global conspiracy of scientists.” — Paul Krugman
