TERRY DULLUM: The Dullum File — More Scammer Scammin’

Readers of this blog may recall that I like chatting online with scammers. You know, the ones who pretend to be Facebook friends in an effort to separate you from your personal information. It’s sort of a hobby with me. Below is my latest, actual scammer conversation. This one is with “Jerry.” Enjoy.

Scammer:  Hello … how are you today? have you heard about the good news yet?

Me:  I’m good. How are you?

Me:  You there, Jerry?

Scammer:  Am good.
Scammer:  I was wondering if you have gotten your cash funds delivered to you? What did you do with your own cash fund??
Me:  I’m glad you’re good. Cash? You said something about cash?
Scammer:  I mean the cash fund donated to randomly selected people by the National Endowment for the Humanities financial assistance program
Me:  I never heard of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Did I mention, I’m glad you’re good?
Me:  You still there, Jerry?
Me:  Jerry?
Scammer:  So you haven’t gotten yours or heard about this yet??
Me:  No. Say, how was St. Martin’s?
Me:  Jerry, you still there?
Scammer:  i got $100,000.00 National Endowment funds for Humanities initiatives. I saw your name on their list when I got my cash delivered, so I thought I would see if you have gotten your cash delivered to you.
Me:  Wow! $100,000! But how was your vacation? Was the weather nice?
Scammer:  It was fun.
Scammer:  My name and yours was among the list of selected beneficiaries to receive the cash fund.
Me:  But I heard it rained while you were there.
Scammer:  Yes, there was rain
Me:  That’s too bad. Was Martha able to go?
Scammer:  We were there together.
Me:  That’s good because I heard she had that rash.
Me:  Jerry, you still there?
Me:  Jerry?
Scammer:  You are to contact the delivery agency and ask them to help you look it up if they still got your name on their delivery list as one of the people entitled to this cash fund.
Me:  But why do they want to give me cash?
Me:  Say, how is Martha’s rash?
Me:  You still there, Jerry?
Me:  You didn’t finish telling me about the cash.
Me:  Jerry?

Hilarious. I had a weird message the other day. I should start answering those calls so I could join the fun. It amazes me you still get calls. If they were smart they would have your name on the do not call crazy list but we know they are not smart. My person had to ask a second party for the number I should call back. My blood boils when I think of people getting scammed. Keep up the good work.

Great work, Terry!! Last summer we had a “computer virus” scam, where you are supposed to call someone from “Microsoft Tech Support” to clean your computer for the low, low price of $500.

The scam company was called Saints Infotech. Just for fun, I called their toll free number SEVERAL times at random late-night hours in the span of a week. I kept them on the line for 15 minutes asking stupid questions about computers (and I kept their clearly audible children awake as well). Here’s the number 866-579-6157. Ask for “Harry Anderson.” He really knows his stuff, LOL. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-579-6157
