Jacob Benson, a former star at Grand Forks Red River High School, opened the scoring for the Huskies (7-9-1 NCHC, 13-13-1 overall) at 11:25 of the first period, and Jimmy Schuldt added another early in the second period before Poolman closed the gap at 8:16 of the third period. But just 28 seconds later, a shot by SCSU’s Robby Jackson deflected off the facemask of linemate Ryan Poehling and past UND goalie Matt Hrynkiw, who finished with 16 saves, to complete the scoring. Jeff Smith stopped 28 shots for St. Cloud. The two teams meet again at 7 tonight. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
