RUSS HONS: Photo Gallery — University Of North Dakota Vs. University Of Minnesota-Duluth

The first-place University of North Dakota men’s hockey team had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 7-4 National Collegiate Hockey Conference loss to the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Friday night in Amsoil Arena in Duluth. The Fighting Hawks (18-3-3 overall, 9-2-2-2 NCHC) still have a five-point lead over UMD in the NCHC standings. The Bulldogs (13-8-2 overall, 8-3-2-0 NCHC) trailed 3-1 midway through the second period before scoring three times, once while a man short, to take a 4-3 lead going into the third period. Weston Michaud paced UND with a goal and an assist. Jordan Kawaguchi and Matt Kiersted scored the other Fighting Hawks goals. Kobe Roth scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Cole Koepke, Quinn Olson, Nick Swaney, Tanner Laderoute and Noah Cates chipped in one goal apiece. UND goaltender Adam Scheel had 31 saves, while UMD’s Hunter Shepard stopped 30 shots.
