East Grand Forks Senior High took its opening game in the Minnesota Section 8AA high school baseball tournament with a 10-0 victory over Crookston on Tuesday at Stauss Park in East Grand Forks. The Pirates had advanced after defeating Bagley in a play-in game earlier in the day. The Green Wave scored seven runs in the second inning to blow the game open and were led by Kade Spencer, who was two for three with two RBI. East Grand Forks pitchers Evan Pederson allowed just three hits in picking up the shutout win. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. On Thursday in Park Rapids, Senior High will meet Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, a 9-6 winner over Thief River Falls on Tuesday. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
