RUSS HONS: Photo Gallery — University Of North Dakota Vs. Mississippi Valley State

The University of North Dakota men’s football team opened its 2018 season with a resounding 35-7 win over Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night in the Alerus Center. The Fighting Hawks (1-0) led the Delta Devils 21-7 at halftime before adding two second half touchdowns to close out the scoring. On offense, both John Santiago and Brady Oliveira each topped the 100-yard mark rushing, while quarterback Nate Ketterling passed for 225 yards and three touchdowns and added a 2-yard rushing touchdown. James Johannesson added 32 yards and a touchdown. On the receiving end, Travis Toivonen, Luke Fiedler and Garret Magg caught touchdown passes from Kettering. Defensively, the Fighting Hawks had seven sacks, forced two turnovers and held the Delta Devils (0-1) to minus 27 yards on the ground. Mason Bennett led the defense with two sacks and three tackles for loss. North Dakota returns to action next Saturday in Seattle against the University of Washington. (Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.)
