The University of North Dakota again jumped out to a 4-0 lead against visiting Colorado College on Saturday night in Ralph Engelstad Arena. But unlike Friday night, when the Fighting Hawks gave up five straight goals to the Tigers, they kept the pressure on, skating to a 5-1 National Collegiate Hockey Conference win. Freshman Rhett Gardner led UND (20-3-3 overall, 11-2-1 NCHC) with two goals for the second game in a row, while senior Bryn Chyzyk had a career high 3-point game. Also scoring goals for the Fighting Hawks were freshman Mike Gornall, with his first college goal in just his second game this season, and sophomore Austin Poganski. Andrew Farney scored the lone goal for Colorado College (5-18-1 overall, 3-10 NCHC). UND goaltender Cam Johnson stopped 18 shots, while CC’s Tyler Marble had 27 saves. UND returns to action next weekend when it travels to Western Michigan. Check out more photos from Russ Hons here.
