It was Senior Day on Saturday in the Alerus Center, and the University of North Dakota’s seniors went out in style with a 45-14 Big Sky Conference rout of Northern Colorado. It was the fifth-straight Senior Day win for UND (6-4, 4-3 BSC), which improved to 4-1 on its home field this season. Northern Colorado fell to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in the BSC. UND was led offensively by freshman John Santiago who had touchdown runs of 49 and 81 yards in the first half and finished the game with 12 carries for 180 yards to move into fifth place on UND’s single-season regular season rushing charts with 1,342. Combined Iwarri Smith’s 100 yards and sophomore Kyle Norbert’s 80 yards, UND put together its second straight game with more than 400 rushing yards. Sophomore quarterback Keaton Studsrud completed 13 of 16 passes for 141 yards. His lone touchdown pass went to senior tight end Zach Adler. On defense, junior linebacker led the way with an 35-yard interception for a touchdown and a fumble recovery in the second quarter. UND ends its regular season Saturday on the road against Big Sky foe Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
