True freshmen running backs John Santiago (230 yards, three touchdowns) and Brady Oliveira (167 yards, one touchdown) combined for 397 rushing yards to lead the University of North Dakota to a 44-38 Big Sky Conference win over Montana State on Saturday in the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. It was the sixth-straight 100-yard rushing game for Santiago, whose new season-total of 1,162 yards broke UND’s Division I single-season rushing mark of 1,146 yards set by Josh Murray in 2008. It was the first win for UND (5-4, 3-3 BSC) over the Bobcats (4-4, 2-3 BSC) since joining the Big Sky four seasons ago. UND sophomore quarterback Keaton Studsrud passed for 121 yards (6 for 9) and two two touchdown passes to Clive Georges, who finished with two catches for 74 yards and 19 rushing yards. Defensively, Will Ratelle finished with 12 tackles to bring his career total to 248, which moves him into UND’s Top 10 list for career regular-season tackles.
