RUSS HONS: Aurora Borealis

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The incredible display of Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, on Tuesday night was caused by a severe geomagnetic — or “solar” — storm, which hit the Earth, producing gorgeous auroras and sparking concerns about power disruptions. The storm, which hit the Earth at around 9 a.m., is a “G4” on the five-point scale, according to NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center. Spaceweather.com reports that it’s the strongest so far in this solar cycle, which occurs about every 11 years.

Thanks for posting those incredible northern lights pics Russ!It is a fact that significant number of aspiring landscape fine art photographers will travel around the world in pursuit of the most fascinating subjects for their upcoming outdoor photography adventure. I even went to Iceland, July of 2013 just to capture this spectacle. I would be so delighted if you can visit my site for the awesome shots I took! Thanks!
